Prof. Dr. Agneta Fischer is Professor in Emotions and Affective Processes in the Social Psychology Group of the University of Amsterdam (see AICE, Amsterdam Interdisciplinary Center of Emotion) and currently Dean of the Faculty of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Her broad research interest is emotions in social contexts, and she has published in the domain of facial expressions of emotion, emotional mimicry, culture and gender differences in emotions, embodiment, and the social functions of emotions. She has played an active role in the International Society for Research on Emotions (ISRE) for a long time, i.e. as president (2004-2009), and founder of ISRE’s journal Emotion Review. She has been chief editor of Cognition and Emotion (2012-2017), and consulting editor of various other journals. She is also one of the coordinators of CERE, the Center for European Research on Emotion that organizes bi-annual conferences on emotions in Europe.
