- PhD Fellow
Aldomoro Burua is a public health practitioner with over 15 years’ experience working with several local and international organizations in infectious diseases management and control, particularly HIV/Aids and tuberculosis prevention, care and treatment. He has provided technical support to the Ministry of Health National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Program in Uganda over the last 10 years in designing and implementing strategies for effective control of tuberculosis disease nationally.
He possesses a bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery (MBChB) and a master’s degree in public health (MPH) from Makerere University. His research focuses on the epidemiology and determinants of tuberculosis disease. He is currently enrolled as a doctoral student at the University of Amsterdam UMC, Netherlands, and the Amsterdam Public Health’s Global Health program (ORCID ID: 0009-0007-0270-5046).
His PhD research aims to ascertain the burden and characterize asymptomatic pulmonary tuberculosis, a growing public health challenge, as individuals with this form of disease do not present with typical signs and symptoms to trigger diagnostic evaluation and yet remain infectious, fueling transmission of TB. His work will contribute to understanding asymptomatic tuberculosis disease and inform policy and programmatic action to end TB globally.
