Anabel Acheampong is a parasitologist and researcher fellow at the Consortium for Neglected Disease and One Health, University of Energy and Natural Resources, Sunyani, Ghana, West Africa. In 2025, she started her PhD at the Amsterdam Institute for Immunology and Infectious Diseases of the University of Amsterdam, under the supervision of Prof. Constance Schultsz, Dr. Henk DFH Schallig and Dr. Kenneth Bentum Otabil.
She is deeply committed to finding innovative solutions to combat neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) such as schistosomiasis, onchocerciasis, yaws, lymphatic filariasis, and soil-transmitted helminths in endemic communities in Ghana, a low- and middle-income country. Specifically, her research focuses on assessing the epidemiological trends and reasons for persistence of urogenital schistosomiasis in hard-to-reach, undeserved communities in Ghana’s middle belt.
