Charles Dupont
- PhD Candidate (SPRINGS Project)
Charles is a computational scientist working in the SPRINGS consortium, and currently pursuing his PhD under the supervision of Vanessa Harris and Debraj Roy, with the goal of developing an agent-based model to better understand the impact of climate change on diarrheal disease burden.
His research involves simulating interactions at multiple scales, including human-environment, human-human, and human-pathogen, in order to study how these relationships contribute to disease transmission. Furthermore, Charles is investigating how these insights can be used to help guide effective interventions and policymaking. An important part of the project also involves careful model calibration using empirical data from ongoing projects in Italy, Romania, Ghana, as well as Tanzania.
Prior to starting his PhD journey, Charles completed his MSc in Computational Science at the University of Amsterdam (UvA), where he developed a model to simulate the emergence of multi-level poverty traps in an artificial society. In his free time, Charles enjoys bouldering, reading, playing guitar, and hiking.
