Charlotte Dieteren is a researcher and research advisor at PharmAccess Foundation, where she focuses on health financing, affordability of care, and strengthening health systems in low- and middle-income countries. Her work aims to bridge the gap between research and real-world implementation, generating evidence that can directly inform policy and improve access to quality care.

She holds a background in Health Sciences (Maastricht University), a Research Master’s in Global Health (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), and a degree in Health Economics, Policy and Law from Erasmus University Rotterdam. She completed her PhD at the Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management (ESHPM) within the Health Economics department. Charlotte subsequently conducted a postdoctoral project at Erasmus University Rotterdam, evaluating the effectiveness of a smartphone application for pregnant women in India.

Currently, her work focuses on estimating the causal effects of quality improvement interventions on health outcomes and healthcare utilization in Ghana. She also conducts costing studies in maternal health and non-communicable diseases and evaluates health system reforms in settings such as Zanzibar, with the aim of informing more effective and sustainable policy decisions.
