Prof. Marc van der Valk (MD, PhD) works as an internist-infectiologist in the Amsterdam UMC’s department of infectious diseases. Since 2021, he has chaired the board of the stichting hiv monitoring (SHM). He has extensive clinical and research experience in HIV care and viral hepatitis. From 2014 to 2020, he chaired the Dutch Association of HIV-Treating Physicians. His research is focused on the epidemiology of HIV in the Netherlands, improving the understanding and management of co-morbidity and co-infection in people with HIV, and improving the quality of HIV care.
