Rozina Tariku is a public health specialist at the Ethiopian Public Health Institute, most recently serving as acting director for disease and health events surveillance in the response directorate. She has also worked in the national public health institute as a public health emergency response expert. She received her B.Sc degree in public health from Arbaminch University in 2012 and a general master’s in public health (GMPH) from Addis Ababa University in 2016. At the start of her career, she worked as a clinical practitioner in a rural health centre in Ethiopia.

She has also worked as a coordinator of the national maternal and perinatal death surveillance and response system, contributing to improving the system. In addition, she served as chair of the national technical working group for maternal and perinatal death surveillance and response (MPDSR) and sexual and reproductive health (SRH)in humanitarian settings. In total, Rozina has co-authored six journal articles.

Rozina has coordinated national outbreak investigation and response activities for the past six years. Many of these outbreaks are emerging and reemerging diseases, such as Covid-19, cholera, polio, measles, malaria, dengue fever, yellow fever, and others.
