Thijs Yan (MSc) graduated in Economics with a specialization in Development Economics at the University of Amsterdam in July 2017. His thesis work focused on the climate-induced changeability of groundwater levels and the effect on rural welfare in India. Since September 2017, he is as a Research Assistant at the Amsterdam Institute for Global Health and Development, where he fulfils a supportive role for a broad range of research projects. Current projects include: teacher incentives and system-wide educational reform in Indonesia (RISE); poverty mapping in Ghana and Kenya; and improvement of piped water in Vietnam (ORIO).
