Impact evaluation of two food security projects

Objective

The aim of the evaluations is to assess the impact of the two food security projects. They are part of a larger effort to gather evidence on the effectiveness of Dutch assistance to improving food security in developing countries.


Description

Both projects were evaluated with the use of quasi-experimental methods. The project in Rwanda targeted cassava farmers and aimed to improve farming outcomes by providing training. The project in Uganda focused on dairy farmers and consisted of interventions such as the acquisition of milk coolers and financial service development.


Outcome

The evaluations provided valuable input for the policy review of Dutch food security policy 2012-2016. This review was sent to Parliament in April 2018.
