ShareNet Maternal Health Pilot
Objective
This study aims to contextualize and pilot a low-cost scalable maternal mental health intervention in Western Kenya and to assess its acceptability and feasibility.
- Adjust, contextualize and translate a group-based mental health intervention, targeting pregnant low-income women in resource-limited settings in Kenya.
Knowledge product: Intervention manual (guidelines)
- Assess the perceived acceptability and feasibility (among pregnant women, Community Health Volunteers, and health provider staff) of delivering a group-based maternal mental health intervention within the context of routine antenatal care provision.
Description
Our study will provide the foundation for a future, larger-scale efficacy trial implemented in collaboration with our partner organisation PharmAccess International, the local government and local health providers, thereby paving the way for contributing to Share-Net’s second objective: To translate research into products and materials that will be used to facilitate tangible change in policy or practice.
