Productive Employment in the Segmented Markets of Fresh Produce: Kenya's avocado sector
The project aim is to study alternative approaches for modernizing the avocado sector in Kenya and the effects of these approaches on small-scale avocado growers in terms of productive employment.
AIID/AIGHD are part of a research consortium investigating the nature of employment in the fresh produce sector, notably avocado farming in Kenya, focusing on the segmented nature of these markets. The project is a collaboration between the Partnership for Economic Policy, the University of Nairobi and the Fresh Produce Exporters Association of Kenya in Kenya, GRADE in Peru and VU University and AIID/AIGHD in the Netherlands. It is part of NWO-WOTRO and INCLUDE’s research agenda on inclusive development.
