Peter Reiss appointed Ridder in Orde van de Nederlandse Leeuw

The Amsterdam Institute for Global Health and Development congratulates Professor Peter Reiss for being appointed Ridder in Orde van de Nederlandse Leeuw (Knight of the Order of the Netherlands Lion).

Peter was appointed on Monday evening during an opening reception for the AIDS Conference at the Rijksmuseum, organized by the City of Amsterdam. He is recognized for his tireless dedication to HIV research and advocacy.

In addition to his tenure as a member of the Academic Staff at AIGHD, Peter is a Professor of Medicine at the Department of Global Health, Amsterdam UMC and Director of Stichting HIV Monitoring. Among many other accomplishments, he also serves as local co-chair of the AIDS 2018 Conference taking place in Amsterdam July 23-27.

Founded by King Willem I on 29 September 1815, the Order of the Lion of the Netherlands is awarded for exceptional service to society.
