Puck Pelzer leads the TB vaccine projects at KNCV tuberculosis foundation, a Dutch NGO for international TB control. As Epidemiologist she provides technical support at KNCV on several international projects. Puck has extensive field research experience in several LMIC and is skilled in using advanced methodologies in statistical data analysis and mathematical modelling. Puck has led readiness assessments on new drugs and regimens and novel TB vaccines. She is experienced in TB epidemiological assessments in high TB-burden countries.

 

Puck has a MSc degree (with distinction) in public health and will soon obtain her PhD on TB vaccines epidemiology with AIGHD/ University of Amsterdam in collaboration with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical medicine (LSHTM). Before joining KNCV over 5 years ago, she worked at the Department of Health Sciences at VU University as lecturer and researcher on monitoring health of woman and children in LMIC. She has supervised several BSc and MSc students and provided on-the-job training in operational epidemiological research. Puck is a guest researcher at several international Universities and still provides lectures for students. Puck is member of the board of the Dutch Society for Tropical Medicine & International Health (NTVG). She serves on several expert panels, including the World Health Organisation’s Strategic and Technical Advisory Group for Tuberculosis vaccine introduction, and the Stop TB partnership’s working group on New TB vaccines.
