Policy brief of Ghana study

The policy brief of the Ghana NHIS study is published on the INCLUDE-social protection website of NWO-WOTRO.

The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), initiated in 2004, aims to realize accessible quality healthcare services for the entire population of Ghana. While this mechanism has been successful in attaining an enrollment rate of over 34% of the population by 2011, various challenges hampered further increase of active membership rates. On request of the National Health Insurance Authority in Ghana, our study explored the effect of social relationships and networks on active membership in the NHIS.
